Moving Car to Another State

When you decide to move from one state to the next, one of the hardest things you’ll have to do is find a way to move all of your belongings.   Perhaps the most difficult things is deciding whether to ship your car or drive it yourself.  You want to be fully prepared for what services you should expect.  First do the math regarding the costs.  If you are moving across many states and driving you must factor in gas, lodging along with the actual time it is going to take you, one other point many over look is the wear to your vehicle.  When you hire a car hauler to take your vehicle across country; there are no miles put on your vehicle, cost will be comparable, and not to mention the time and trouble you will save.

Reputation:  Though there are many companies that have reasonably stellar ratings from the review sites, but make sure to follow up with the Better Business Bureau.  You want to be sure that your company has nearly perfect customer service and can ensure you complete satisfaction from pick-up to drop-off.  One really important factor to check is how long they have been in business; make sure they have been around for at least five years.  It can’t be stressed enough that whatever transportation service you go with has an impeccable reputation, over half of the auto transporters out there have below "C" ratings!

Insurance:  Make sure that whichever company you choose is properly insured to transport your vehicles.  You don’t want to be completely blind-sided with a company’s limitations because of their lack of insurance, and that will happen if you let a household moving company haul your vehicle.  Car carriers have to meet certain insurance requirements to cover your vehicle in transit; furniture moving companies normally do not carry the proper insurance.

Door-to-Door
:  There’s nothing worse than a company that has you pay for getting your auto from one state to the next but expects you to meet them to transport it the rest of the way to your home.  Be sure that the company you go with will meet you at your door (please see door to door transport) and will stick with you until you reach your new home.

One-Truck Shipping:  There are quite few auto transport companies, especially the larger companies that use from two to an eight trucks to move your vehicle when going across country.  This kind of car shipping is called terminal shipping, and can greatly increase the number of days it takes to transport.   What person is comfortable with their cargo switching hands while in transit?  It’s unprofessional, dangerous, and leaves you extremely vulnerable because you never know where your vehicle is.  Make sure that whichever company you choose has a strict one-truck shipping policy.
